Bolton Council has suggested a solution to having no public toilets in the town: reopen those in Horwich. Councillors have been campaigning for facilities ever since the toilets in Captain Street were closed earlier this year by Bolton Council.
A teenager has been charged with criminal damage after a fire was lit at a Miss Selfridge store in Manchester city centre. The shop, in Market Street, was set on fire on Tuesday evening during much unrest.

A Merseyside chipboard factory which has faced a number of health and safety inquiries in the past decade was damaged by a large fire. In the latest incident at the Sonae plant in Kirkby the fire started in a woodchip storage bunker at the factory and caused much damage.
