BT looks to the future in Manchester

BT Group will move into a landmark development in Greater Manchester.

Their new premises, Four New Bailey, will more than quadruple the company’s current Manchester workforce when they eventually fully occupy it.

BT is proceeding with this multi-million-pound move even in the current pandemic because it intends to bring its workforce back into the office once public health guidelines confirm the safety of that policy. The new building will be an “inspiring environment to work in”.

At the moment, BT hopes to move employees into the new premises from late 2023. Currently it operates from temporary offices at 125 Deansgate.

Graeme Paton, BT’s managing director of property and facilities services, said: “Our new buildings will bring our people together in an impressive and modern environment, transforming the way we work.

“Excitingly, they will become strategic locations for BT in the UK with a considerable increase in the number of colleagues based in this city.”

Liz Needleman, BT Group regional lead for the North of England, believes it is a “huge boost for the city”.

“Manchester has already been revealed as one of our key cities and I’m excited that we have now identified the development that will provide an impressive, state-of-the-art building for our staff and represents our future vision as a company.

“I’m really pleased we’re able to make this long-term commitment to Greater Manchester during an incredibly difficult time for our economy due to the Covid-19 pandemic.”

FIRE ROLL CALL – ADD MORE MUSTER POINTS/SWITCH TO OUR FIRE ROLL CALL (FRC) MOBILE APP

As workplaces reopen, evacuations and even fire drills will become another reason for concern.

Under the new guidelines, all employees are required to keep a safe 2m distance between them, even during potentially emergency situations. Our Fire Roll Call system can help you achieve this in two ways:

• Add additional Muster Points for Fire Roll Call: The system can easily accommodate more muster points, thereby decreasing the number of staff assembling at each point.
• Switch to the Fire Roll Call App (FRC): When using the Fire Roll Call app, employees can mark themselves safe from within the app without physically moving to a set muster point. This ensures that employees maintain a safe distance from each other.
