University opens new collaborative workspace building

A North-West based university has just officially opened a new £24m creative and collaborative workspace building, a recent news report in the local business media has been able to suggest.

Lancaster University Management School (LUMS) has unveiled a new five-storey contemporary area – dubbed the West Pavilion – that includes a trio of lecture theatres, two executive teaching suites and three floors for academics and staff.

Professor Angus Laing, dean of LUMS, said: “We are delighted that our new cutting-edge facility is complete which is a fitting and inspiring setting for the whole LUMS community.

“Planning for this project started before the pandemic, when our footprint simply wasn’t big enough for our fast-growing school. Now it is complete, we are in the fortunate position of boasting a modern and flexible facility which houses some of Lancaster’s largest lecture theatres, with large open spaces that can be used safely within current restrictions, as well as when normality resumes.

“We look forward to a time when students can return to study here on campus and benefit from these facilities as part of the full Lancaster experience.”

Time & Attendance North West – Your Workforce Management Partners

Adding a new extension to one’s site is the perfect opportunity to install a new time and attendance system, since it enables you to control the wiring and the placements of doors and other useful factors.

Time and Attendance North West offers a contactless smartcard and biometric clocking terminal with clocking options ranging from smartcard only right up to 3 factor authentication of smartcard, PIN and biometrics.

This hardware registers staff entrances and exits as they present their identification, and delivers the information to the central software in real-time. It is a quick and user-friendly process.

Our Biometric Fingerprint Reader is designed to give absolute peace of mind that the correct person was present when scanning. Once registered on the fingerprint scanner, the image of the patterns usually found on the fingertip is converted into a code through a secure algorithm, which is then stored on the time and attendance system database for future comparison and authentication.
