Vital green training centre opens in Blackburn

Vital Energi, a provider of viable and sustainable energy systems, will open a new £2 million training centre at its headquarters in Blackburn.

The premises will provide heat network skills development, using multiple digital approaches to provide the training in a way which is both Covid-secure and interactive. It contains a 60-seater lecture theatre and seminar-style classrooms.

Gary Fielding, chairman of Vital Energi, said: “As a company dedicated to providing sustainable, long-term heat and power solutions, we believe it’s our responsibility to help close the skills gap facing our industry and support the workforce that is set to deliver the UK’s low-carbon future.

“Our new training centre will focus on knowledge sharing and skills development, providing attendees with the necessary tools to support the government’s heat network expansion plans.

“We expect the centre will significantly boost the pool of qualified and experienced workers in the industry.”

Moving into brand new premises is a time to be congratulated for success, but it is also the time, particularly if companies intend to expand staff rosters in the future, to double-check that existing systems can handle the increase.

A high-tech Covid-secure training facility needs a way to accurately measure its attendance, in order to track potential infections.

It also needs to keep the area as clean and hygienic as possible, for the health of everyone involved.

Here at Time and Attendance North West, we have two easy to use options available for contactless attendance monitoring.

The first is our radio-frequency smart-cards. These come in long-range or short-range form, and do not need to be touched to the reader, or taken out from your pocket, wallet or bag. They are approximately the size of credit cards, and are very robust against all weather conditions.

The second contactless clocking option is our facial recognition terminal. The unit is Android based and very user-friendly. Following an fast and easy initial enrollment, the reader will allow employees to quickly clock in and out by simply looking into the unit. The technology works well in all possible indoor lighting conditions as well as outdoor installations unless exposed to direct sunlight.

The facial recognition time and attendance terminal supports a user height range of 145cm ~ 210cm. With the optional tilt-bracket, it also accommodates wheelchair users and children, thereby providing exceptional performance and usability for diverse time and attendance applications of any size.
